Patience

A beautiful and sunny Autumn day came along last week and we got a call from Grandma to go to lunch. The girls got all prettied up and gathered their favorite toys. Their patience is always tested when awaiting Grandma's arrival! There is no one in the world they love to be with more their Grandma :)

Halloween 2009

The girls and I had a fun Halloween Day. We spent the day shopping at Thrift Stores. We found these costumes on half price sale. Tinker Bell with her shoes was just $9.00 and Valencia's gorgeous purple maiden gown was only $4.99!
We had the whole day to dress up so we added green nail polish to TinkerBell as well as some beautiful satin green ribbon from FiniRibbon. in her hair.

Valencia's hair was embellished with a Mommy made hair clip made from hand dyed vintage lace and a vintage rhinestone bauble.

For our evening plans the girls went their Daddy to a Birthday party. We sent a Sleeping Beauty Disney Princess gown to Ms. Mason (Birthday Girl) in a simple gift bag embellished with the very tag that was featured in Belle Armoire's Art of Presentation article.

The location of the party was a home with Cats so I could not attend so Jaedin (the knight) and I went to a Church's festivities that included games, prizes and free food!
Hope you all had a fantastic Halloween~!

Magical Glitter & Lace Journals

These are by far the hardest thing I've ever had to let go of and list in my Etsy shop. I made these with the intention of selling them in my Etsy shop but after seeing just one I wanted to frame it and have it forever. Once all of them were done it's like they all belong together.
Instead of keeping these journals, list pads, scrapbooks, brag books to myself I've decided to re create this look onto my $2.oo canvas grocery bags using the same materials. Marilyn Healey's German glitter glass stars of course (find them at MemrieMare.Etsy.com ) and a stash of lace and satin ribbon . I'll show those in another week :)
Please enjoy these detailed photos paired with my favorite Shakespeare quotes.

How far that little candle throws its beams! So shines a good dead in a naughty world.

All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.

It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.

There's place and means for every man alive.

This above all; to thine own self be true.

A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.

Hat Day

Jaedin has a great sense of style. Always chooses to wear his dress up clothes and it wasn't any different on his first School Hat Day. Instead of a ball cap he chose to wear this. He couldn't look more adorable.
Valencia can't wait to start school and always like to wait at the bus stop with him.

Coffee Dyed Note Cards

I have found that these coffee dyed cards that I make for earring cards work wonderfully for note cards. I find myself writing little thank you notes and such to everyone. Now I keep a drawer of these as well as my hang tags laying around.
Personalizing a gift to make a friend feel special is as easy as one evening of creating a bulk of these cards.

To make these cards...

Materials:

Manila folders
12 inch Paper Cutter
Stamps
Staz- on ink
Coffee
Glass baking pan
Scrap towel
Cookie sheet

1. Begin by filling a glass baking dish half way full with water. Add a scoop of instant coffee.
Dip a full manila folder into the dish. you may need to cut of one inch of the tabs to let the folder fit into the dish. Let sit for a couple of minutes

2. Hand ring out the manila folders by squeezing the water out of the paper.
Set onto a towel and fold the towel over the folders to press out any extra moisture.

3. Set one sheet layer on baking sheet and bake at 290 degrees for about 10-12 minutes. This makes the manila folder crisp and dyes down the antiqued look. Remove from oven and let sit to cool

4.When sheet is cooled off, bring to your paper cutter and cut to desired size. These cards seen in the photos are 3 and a half inches across by 5 inches long. Stamp bottom center of cards.
And write heartfelt note! Walla!
